Gregory Aaron Co-Artistic Director of Balletcenter Cebu located at the 3rd Level in Ayala Center Cebu has been on the go.
April 15 he flew to KL to begin setting “Little Mermaid” on Equinox Dancing Studio, Mei Lin Ng Director, located in Klang and Roche Dance School located in Setia Alam Zse Ye Director.
Director Ms. Ng had met Mr. A when she attended a workshop held by Mr. A at Acts of Performing Arts School, Angeline Yew Director a couple of years ago, that led to Mr. A guest teaching at Equinox dancing studio last year. Mr. A was also the special guest invited to the ribbon cutting of their new branch in Klang.
For a year Mr. A has been communicating with Ms. Ng preparing for his arrival in Klang.
Once Mr. A arrived he literally flew into the studios setting choreography for the myriad of characters in the cast from ages 3 to adult.
Little Mermaid has a special place in Mr. A’s heart had Philippine audiences will remember that “Little Mermaid” was the first full length ballet Mr. A and Tito Nico created for Balletcenter Cebu in 2002 and the Royeca Schools of Ballet, Davao and General Santos in 2003.
Ingenious scheduling by Ms. Ng and Ms. Cheong enabled Mr. A to set the bulk of the ballet April 16 – May 21. Students from the schools car-pooled to each respective studio to do Pull-Together Rehearsals. And amazing feet to have little ones rehearsing at each other’s school. Masses of fun along with hard work, had by all. June 15 Mr. A returned for a week to clean the ballet.
Eddie Carl Caysola (Nino) a company member of Balletcenter will guest as the Prince. Mr. Casoyla will travel with Mr. A to KL on July 28 for a month’s rehearsals culminating in the performances August 22 held at Putra Jaya, Malaysia.
